Is the FORT supervised?

Yes, all programs at the FORT are supervised by a Youth Worker as well as at least one volunteer. A minimum of two adults attend all field trips and outings.

Is there a charge for the programs at the FORT?

Due to generous community support from a number of community agencies and individuals all programs at the FORT are free of charge.

How old does my son/daughter have to be to participate at the FORT?

The FORT is open to all youth between the ages of 12-18.

Can I come to the FORT and check it out before sending my child?

Absolutely! We encourage parents to come and meet our staff and see all of the great things the FORT has to offer for youth!

Do you provide meals and snacks for the youth at the FORT?

Monday to Friday, the FORT offers snacks throughout the day and healthy dinners each night at 5 p.m. This program is offered to all youth at the FORT.

I am having a hard time talking to my teenager about issues he is facing; does the FORT have information on how to talk to youth?

The FORT has a resource library with information on a number of issues facing teens today: alcohol and drug abuse, sexuality, bullying, peer pressure, health concerns, etc. FORT staff can also offer referrals to agencies that can offer help and support.

My teenager doesn’t want to talk to me about what is bothering her. Is there someone at the FORT that she can talk to?

The FORT staffs a trained Youth Worker who can offer confidential and supportive advice or just an ear to listen. The FORT will also put youth in contact with community partners and agencies who can offer more extensive help.

I have a 16 year-old boy staying at my house and I am not his legal guardian, is there someone at the FORT who can give me some advice and help him secure housing?

The Youth Connect Worker is able to answer all of your questions, as well as help the youth with his housing search. The Youth Worker can be reached through the FORT at 905-309-3678.
